Kayachikitsa is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda which is concerned with various somatic and psychosomatic diseases. It deals with the principles and methods of treatment of diseases afflicting the entire body. It is directed towards the correction of Agni (metabolic functioning) as the improper functioning of Agni is the root cause of all imbalances in the body.
Since the inception of the institution in 2004, this department is practicing ancient ways of personalized cure, complementing the accurate diagnosis and treatment regarding the Prakruti (physical constitution), Desa (habitat), Kala (season), Satwa (mental strength), Satmya (habituation), Agni (power of digestion), Bala (strength) and Vaya (age) of the patient.
The department has been serving the public on both in-patient and out-patient basis. The treatment collaborates with physiotherapy and Yoga for the complete well-being of the individual along with modern diagnostic tools and techniques for evidence-based management. The doctors designates equal priority to Ahara (food), Vihara (regiments/lifestyle) and Aushadha (medicines) in the management of diseases and the treatment modalities include Shodhana (purification), Shamana (pacification), and Satwavajaya (Counselling) Chikitsa.
SPECIALITY SERVICES UNDER KAYA CHIKITSA:
- The department focuses on addressing diseases related to the Gastrointestinal system, Musculoskeletal system, Nervous system, Autoimmune diseases, Allergies, Lifestyle and Metabolic disorders, Geriatric ailments, and general debility.
- Rasayana therapies are also advocated as per the conditions.
- Osteoporosis clinic with BMD assessment (DEXA scan) is organized for the adult population. It has been taken as a prophylactic measure considering the silent nature of the disease.
- Department also holds a Psychiatry specialty clinic with in-patient and out-patient facilities. Counselling sessions are specially provided for different conditions like Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Behavioral problems, Addictions, Sexual Dysfunctions and other psychiatric disorders.
- Psychiatry specialty clinic functions on all Thursdays and Saturdays.

- The Postgraduate department of Kayachikitsa is having an additional specialty department i.e., focusing on teaching and practice of Ayurveda Psychiatry.
- This specialty has unique OPD and IP facilities which aims at teaching and practice of Psychiatric and psychosomatic illnesses.
- Anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, psychiatric problems related to school children, adolescence and teenage, sleep related disorders, social media addiction and psychosexual problems are the prime focus of the specialty and the department also has facilities for I.Q. assessment, career counselling, family counselling, De-addiction.
- The department is equipped with an exclusive Psychotherapy unit which consists of specialty instruments related to various therapies, a counselling and therapy unit and a museum related to various aspects of Psychospiritual learning.
- Every academic year the postgraduate students will get an exclusive opportunity to carry out the research related Mental health which is a part of their Postgraduate curriculum.
