Holistic healing

Ayurveda emphasizes on maintenance of health rather than treating a condition after it manifests and thus is a system of medicine for both healthy and the diseased. It looks at the body from a higher plane and hence addresses many conditions collectively. Nevertheless, Ayurveda does have many specializations when it comes to treatment but is holistic in approach.

Ayurveda is known to the world for its holistic approach in dealing with diseases. The body is considered to be complete only when it is inclusive of both, the mind and spirit. While treating a condition, it takes a holistic approach by considering body as a single entity and primarily focuses on correcting the imbalance that has manifested into a disease condition rather than a reductionistic approach of treating only the disease.

Another aspect of holism is that its fundamental principles are constructed based on observing the mechanisms of nature like ‘The theory of cause and effect’ (Karya Karana Siddhanta), ‘The theory of five basic elements of nature’ (Panchamahabhuta Siddhanta), ‘The theory of similarity and dissimilarity’ (Samanya Vishesha Siddhanta), ‘The theory of attributes’ (Guna Siddhanta), ‘The theory of macrocosm and microcosm’ (Brahmanda Pindanda Siddhanta) and so on. All these theories point out to one thing, it is Holism.
Certain diseases require to be treated with different add on modalities of treatments for better results. Amrita School of Ayurveda offers extensive modalities of treatments like Yoga, acupuncture, naturopathy, physiotherapy along with specialty treatments in Ayurveda.
